Brown County United Way Highlights City East Center’s Collaborating Partners with Launch ofFree Tax Prep Assistance Program

GREEN BAY, WI — Brown County United Way is dedicated to serving ALICE (Asset Limited, Income
Constrained, Employed) households, which represent 1 in 3 households in the county. Through
collaboration with committed partners, Brown County United Way continues to strengthen
communities, including those with ALICE households, by launching innovative initiatives like the
upcoming free Tax Prep Assistance program. Starting February 2025, this program exemplifies the
organization’s mission to advance economic mobility, empowerment, and social connection across
Brown County.

Tax Prep Assistance Program Details
In partnership with AARP Tax Preparation service, Brown County United Way will be hosting free tax
prep service at City East Center, 111 N. Roosevelt Street, Green Bay, WI 54301. This no-cost service is
open to taxpayers of all ages; AARP membership is not required. Tax preparers are trained and IRS
certified. To participate, you MUST schedule an appointment and pick up the tax preparation packet
prior to your appointment. To schedule an appointment, please call 920.393.7863 and leave a message if
needed. Space is limited, so sign up early.

Appointments will be scheduled between 9:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on the following dates:
February 7, 18, 27, 28
March 5, 10
April 1

Highlighting Other Collaborating Partners
The City East Center is proud to partner with organizations that align with its core objectives: Economic
Mobility, Empowerment and Self-Advocacy, and Social Connection. Below are some of the impactful
programs launching through these partnerships:
Economic Mobility
Boys and Girls Club: Career Launch A job-readiness and career preparation program for youth aged
11+, offering interactive activities to explore diverse career paths, align interests with career clusters,
and build necessary skills and education.

Empowerment and Self-Advocacy
Howe Community Resource Center: Family Sized Support Program, Parent Cafés Programs
providing essential parenting skills in positive discipline, early childhood development, and
communication. Parent Cafés offer non-judgmental spaces for connection, reducing isolation and
fostering family engagement in education.

Health
Brain Center of Green Bay: Community Program Presentations on key habits and protective
measures to promote healthy aging and cognitive health.

Financial Stability
Legal Action of WI: Community Lawyering Program and Civil Legal Services Community education
sessions on housing rights and resources, as well as free civil legal services for low-income
individuals in areas such as employment barriers, housing law, and public benefits.
NeighborWorks Green Bay: Preparing for Homeownership Introductory sessions for individuals
seeking to achieve homeownership, whether immediately or in the future.

Community Empowerment Through Technology
Additionally, the City East Center is advancing digital literacy through a Techequity Grant from United
Way Wisconsin, which supports technology distribution and provides access to digital navigators for
educational assistance.
