VOLUNTEERING: A WAY TO GIVE BACK

It’s essential to serve the county we advocate for every day. We collaborate with agencies to create or expand Brown County volunteer events, hoping to inspire others to volunteer.

How to volunteer with us

Brown County United Way hosts and co-sponsors numerous volunteer events throughout the year.
Here are some ways you can join us.

Blanket Blitz

Every January, we co-sponsor a blanket drive with the Greater Green Bay Labor Council. Recently, we reimagined the drive and held the first-ever one-day Blanket Blitz at Lambeau Field in the Johnsonville Tailgate Village. More than 1,150 items were collected, sorted, and distributed to area agencies. We are grateful for the support of the Green Bay Packers GiveBack, Breakthrough Fuel, and WFRV TV-5 in meeting the cold weather needs in our community.

United We Can Sculpture Build

Brown County United Way supports local food pantries by hosting a canned goods sculpture build. The United We Can Food Sculpture Challenge invites companies to create a sculpture of their choice using the canned goods provided. In the latest challenge, 1,500 food cans were donated to ten food pantries in Brown County.

Annual Diaper Drive

In recognition of Diaper Need Awareness Week in September, Brown County United Way and the Greater Green Bay Labor Council co-sponsor an annual diaper drive to supply Brown County parents with much-needed diapers. In the latest campaign, more than 88,000 diapers were collected. Kimberly-Clark donated over 85,000 Huggies. Over the 11-year history of the drive, more than 1,000,000 diapers have been collected and distributed to families in need through Brown County agencies.

Day of Action

United Way’s annual volunteer day in communities worldwide, called Day of Action, takes place on or near June 21. At Brown County United Way, our activities are focused on helping ALICE. This past year, we volunteered at Wise Women Gathering Place, a local agency that helps women in need in Brown County. Tasks performed were organizing pamphlets of information, creating healing kits, and cleaning out a newly donated RV.

Rake Up Green Bay

Brown County United Way teamed up with The Volunteer Center of Brown County during October and November to help promote Rake Up Green bay. This initiative focuses on households who may be unable to clean up their yards due to disability, limited resources, or financial constraints. Registration is closed for this year’s event. Check back next year for details on how you can get involved.

Serving meals at New Community Shelter

For the second year, staff members and volunteers with Brown County United Way will prepare meals for guests at New Community Shelter. This year’s activity will occur in mid-December.
