A Shared Commitment: Imperial Supplies and Brown County United Way Mark 5th Annual Summer Sendoff Book Drive
GREEN BAY, WI — Brown County United Way, in partnership with Imperial Supplies, proudly celebrated
the 5th Annual Summer Sendoff Book Drive at Howe Elementary Community School on Tuesday, June
3. What began as a collaborative volunteer effort between Imperial Supplies and Brown County United
Way’s Emerging Leaders Society has evolved over the years, with Imperial Supplies this year taking on
the role of community champions and providing the complete volunteer team for the initiative,
continuing their strong tradition of supporting literacy and student success.
Almost 400 brand-new books were distributed to every student at Howe Elementary, along with
reusable book bags filled with coloring books, pencils, sensory toys, stickers, and other activities to
spark creativity and learning over the summer. Each child also received a coupon for a free Little Joe
pizza, generously donated by Terri and Frank Hanold, owners of Happy Joe’s in east Green Bay.
“Imperial Supplies has been part of this effort from the beginning,” said Angie Bergstrom, Sr. Director of
Human Resources at Imperial Supplies. “This year, our team was given the opportunity to have more of
our staff members volunteer which gave us an even greater opportunity to connect with students and
support a cause we care deeply about—literacy and summer learning.”
Book selections were thoughtfully made by teachers at Howe Elementary, ensuring every student
received a title aligned with their interests and reading levels. The personal connection helped
reinforce a sense of belonging and excitement around reading.
“We are incredibly lucky to have two dedicated organizations, Imperial Supplies, LLC and Brown County
United Way, that care deeply for our school community and operate right in our neighborhood. Howe
scholars are heading into summer with a great book they can fall in love with thanks to this fantastic
Summer Book Send Off event!” -Diana Delbecchi, Community Schools Resource Coordinator at Howe
Elementary Community School
Brown County United Way remains committed to bringing people and organizations together
