Community Partnership for Children Wins Children's Advocacy Award
On November 7, the Community Partnership for Children was awarded the Children's Advocacy Award by Encompass Childcare.
The Children's Advocacy Award is given to honor an individual or group that promotes the necessity and importance of active involvement for all children in our society.
Encompass Director Rose Smits gave the award to Community Impact Manager Sarah Inman and Community Impact Director Stephanie Foley.
Below is an excerpt of the Rose's speech.
"There is no group more deserving of this award than the Brown County United Way's Community Partnership for Children. It has a wonderful vision. Just imagine what our community will be like when their vision is realized:
“Every child, from birth through elementary school, has the resources and opportunities needed to develop to his or her potential, and families have the support they need to nurture their members and to prosper.”
"Do you know what? The Community Partnership for Children is well on its way to making this happen. The
Partnership is a collaborative effort to create a communitywide system of family support in Brown County. Its mission is to provide all parents with the tools they need from the time their babies are born, so that every child can enter school ready to learn and grow.
"At Encompass, we are not only proud to be a part of the Partnership, we, along with 37 other community organizations, are the "heart and soul" of that mission. We know how great the needs are in Brown County, and we know how badly parents need these tools to build strong families.
"With support from United Way and leadership from the Children & Families Impact Council, three goals are being worked on by 38 partners in order to realize this dream for families. They are:
1. To connect with parents of all new babies born at Brown County hospitals.
2. To coordinate current services so they can effectively be linked families
3. To identify any gaps and then fill the gaps
The Partnership is out in our community right now building
relationships, integrating referral networks, identifying provider and client needs and collaborating to generate increased resource for everyone involved.
"The Partnership began in 2004 after extensive study, and it continues to evolve. It is provider driven and community owned. It is well on its way to fulfill a dream that everyone here tonight shares — that every child has the resources and opportunities needed to develop his or her full potential, and that families have the support they need to nurture their members and to prosper.
"When this happens, what a wonderful world it will be!"
The Brown County United Way would like to thank all the volunteers and partners who have made the Community Partnership for Children a success.
