Levels of Giving

Gifts at every level make a positive impact on our community. Some contributors have the means to make special contributions, and these people are known as Leadership Givers. Leadership Givers are recognized locally and sometimes nationally at the following levels:

  • Tocqueville Society
The Tocqueville Society is a leadership recognition program that was officially established at Brown County United Way in 1996. At a national level it honors all those who contribute $10,000 or more to the United Way.

This society was founded in honor of the French historian Alexis de Tocqueville who, in the early nineteenth century, wrote about the American spirit of volunteerism. He recognized, applauded, and immortalized the voluntary spirit that lives in America’s heart.

  • Leadership Circle Society
It takes a special type of person to give at the Leadership level – someone who shows true commitment to creating a healthier and stronger community for the benefit of all. Here in Brown County there are nearly 500 such contributors who are individually and collectively working to make our community a better place.

Through gifts of $1,000-$9,999, Leadership giving contributors are a vibrant and active force in helping Brown County United Way create positive, sustained changes in our neighborhoods.

  • Emerging Leaders Society
Emerging Leaders Society gives young professionals the opportunity to educate their peers about issues facing our community and ways to positively impact the place in which we live & work. Take part in improving lives through unique volunteer opportunities.
