Ray and Laverne love to get out and socialize. Whether its playing cards and bingo, going for walks or just having lunch with friends, they say it's a great time to be a senior in Brown County.

And they both agree that their lifestyle wouldn't be possible without the Salvation Army Senior Citizens program.

"For us, the Senior Citizens program is a great way to see our best friends, and to meet new ones too," Laverne said. "There is just such a nice bunch of people there."

Thanks to funding by the Brown County United Way, the Senior Citizens program of The Salvation Army is able to provide a social framework for our area elderly.

And for some, this program provides the only means to stay active in our community.

"Without the Senior Citizens program, so many people I know would be totally alone," Ray said. "All their family and friends are gone. This is what makes the Senior Citizen program so important."

In addition to providing a place for seniors to be together and many other services, the Senior Citizens program fills a critical need by providing transportation to seniors.

"A lot of my friends can't drive, or don't want to drive anymore," Ray said. "For them, this is the only way to get around. The only way they can stay active in our community."

The Salvation Army Senior Citizens program provides an invaluable opportunity for Brown County elderly to stay fit and active. These special services wouldn't be possible without your support of the Brown County United Way.

Thank you for giving.
