Program/Service Description:
Please inform Alison Draheim of any soon-to-be homeless or homeless students/families that need to be served, or feel free to give their names and phone numbers to the families they serve. Goals: 1. Identify each GB School district school child who is living in a homeless situation and provide social work services and remove any barriers to education. 2. Initiate or maintain contact with service providers for these families and advocate for the family needs. 3. Advocate for the needs of the child in his/her particular school record retrieval and consult with teachers as to the child's educational needs. 4. Provide appropriate transportation to the student's home school via extended school bus routes, city bus passes, or gas reimbursements for parents. 5. Provide needed school supplies for homeless students, ensure waiver of breakfast and lunch fees as well as any school fees. 6. Supportive counseling to homeless children and parents. 7. Continue relationships with families when out of shelter to prevent recurrence of homelessness.
