Program/Service Description:
The Elder Financial Empowerment Project focuses on serving the direct needs of elders who have experienced financial abuse. The project will staff a legal help line to provide support, information and assistance, including revoking Powers of Attorney for Finances, assist victims in navigating the criminal justice system, and undertake personal advocacy by intervening and negotiating with creditors on behalf of victims, and referring elders to appropriate agencies for a broad range of assistance with other personal finance issues. The project will also provide outreach to elders, community members service providers and other professionals about financial exploitation.
