2-1-1 PLUS Sites
(PARTNERSHIP...LINK...UNITE...SUPPORT)
What are 2-1-1 PLUS Sites?
The Brown County United Way has established 2-1-1PLUS Sites within various
community settings (click here to view sites). This will give people who do not have
phone and/or Internet access an opportunity to learn about and utilize the
2-1-1: Get Connected, Get Answers call center and
database.
With more than 1,600 federal, state, and
local agencies serving Brown County, navigating the web of service providers
can be confusing. 2-1-1 PLUS
offers Brown County residents needing help and guidance on how to get
connected to available resources, particularly people with lower incomes,
those who are isolated or new to the area, or those who are learning
English.
2-1-1 PLUS Sites will be located within
participating Brown County settings such as:
·
Schools
·
Churches
·
Libraries
·
Resource centers
·
Homeless shelters, and
·
Childcare centers
2-1-1 PLUS Sites are a pioneering
concept locally and nationwide. Agency
staff is trained to help their clients contact 2-1-1, via telephone or the
Internet. The staff are also
equipped with the 2-1-1 PLUS Tool Kit. The Tool Kit is a guide for client referral, providing information to
educate and train staff that have direct contact with clients needing
assistance.
This increased community collaboration
and coordination will:
·
Help build stronger links between individuals,
families, and community services.
·
Increase knowledge about current local programming and
available resources.
·
Strengthen existing ties and create new ones between
all community agencies.
·
Create community-wide ownership of the 2-1-1 system and
increase its effectiveness.
·
Reduce program duplication and improve efficiency.
