Immigration/Refugee Resources

Resources to Lawful Permanant Resident or Citizenship

Most People become U.S. Citizens in one of three ways:

  • By birth, either within the territory of the United States or to U.S. citizen parents, or
  • By Naturalization, or
  • By adoption, in 2000, Congress passed the Child Citizenship Act (CCA), which allows any child under the age of 18 who is adopted by a U.S. citizen and immigrates to the United States to acquire immediate citizenship.

Resources to lawful permenant resident or citizenship can be found in the 2-1-1 database or visit USCIS.gov for information on the various paths to citizenship.

From the USCIS.gov website are some informational "How Do I..." resource guides.
