Program/Service Description:
The Department of Planning and Economic Development includes three separate divisions: planning, economic development, and redevelopment. Planning - The planning division provides staff assistance to the City of De Pere's Plan Commission. Activities include zoning, conditional uses, subdivision regulations, and land use planning. Implement and monitor City Comprehensive Plan by reviewing and making recommendations to the City's Plan Commission on potential annexations, rezoning, conditional uses, official map amendments, site plans, subdivisions and Certified Survey Maps. Answer questions from general public, developers, and City officials regarding planning and zoning issues. Attend meetings of the City's Common Council and Plan Commission. Economic Development - The propose of the Economic Development division is to promote economic development through land sales in the De Pere Business and Industrial Parks; work with De Pere Area Business Alliance and the De Pere Main Street in downtown areas; assist industrial and business expansion through retention efforts; administer the City's Revolving Loan Fund; receive and make recommendations on applications for Revolving Loan Funds and/or Wisconsin Development Funds. Redevelopment Authority - Provides staff assistance to the Redevelopment Authority by preparing and sending requests for proposals to qualified developers; review and make recommendations on proposals received; provide assistance to consultants in acquisition and relocation as required; assist in negotiating development agreements; review and make recommendations on site plans, signage, as needed in the TIF (Tax Incremental Financing) Districts.
