Eligibility:

    

Generally, a family with a child between the ages of 5 and 21 who is showing behavioral concerns. Admission criteria may vary to some degree with the funding source and will be discussed with the contact person. Referrals can be made by professionals or from the family itself. In-home counseling staff will screen referrals to determine if they meet program criteria.

Program/Service Description:
The In-Home Counseling program provides intensive counseling services to children, adolescents, and their families for the purpose of early intervention and avoiding out-of-home placements. Services include: * Supporting parents to be in charge * Establishing rules, rewards, and consequences * Improving parent/child communication and interaction * Developing parenting skills * Addressing physical/sexual abuse * Improving school attendance and other school issues * Finding alternatives to delinquent behaviors * Helping couples resolve conflicts * Learning to control anger How does program work? * Meeting are typically held in the home * Sessions are held with families in whatever combination of members are deemed important * Length of counseling determined by the speed in which family's treatment goals are reached * Treatment involves collaboration with other professionals (e.g. Human Services, schools and other agencies)
