Program/Service Description:
The Sexual Assault Center provides support to sexual assault and sexual harassment victims. It is also a resource for family members, friends, and partners or spouses. Services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Services available include: crisis intervention and counseling, medical advocacy, legal advocacy, and follow up assistance. There is a support group for adult women who have past and/or present issues of sexual assault or abuse. This group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. Another support group is available for adult women recovering from alcohol and other drug dependence and also have past and/or present issues of sexual assault or abuse. The center also provides community education in the schools and work place and will do in-service training for professionals, church groups and other community organizations. A culturally diverse staff is available to provide services to the Spanish-speaking, Hmong, and Native American communities. In addition, someone is available for the developmentally disabled and physically disabled populations. Presentations and prevention curriculum offered to parents, school staff and for all children.
