Program/Service Description:
The Brown County Drug Task Force is a full-time investigative unit assigned to investigate narcotics at the street level. In addition to conducting investigations, the unit provides training for local law enforcement, fire departments, paramedics, hospital emergency room staff, social workers and teachers. They are also requested to speak at Neighborhood Watch meetings and local high schools. Currently, officers from the DePere Police Dept; the Green Bay Police Dept; and the Ashwaubenon Public Safety Department send their new officers to the Drug Task Force for a 30 day training period where they are instructed on street narcotics, informants, surveillance and warrant preparation. The Drug Task Force works closely with the Federal Drug Enforcement Association, the State Department of Narcotics Enforcement, Green Bay Community Policing Officers, and the Village of Howard Community Police Officer. These units have proven to be valuable assets to the Drug Task Force's fight on crime.
