Program/Service Description:
The primary purpose the McKinney-Vento Homeless Program is to ensure that barriers to full and equitable access to education and related services for homeless children are removed or reduced. The Green Bay Area Public School District Homeless Program provides direct services to homeless children in order to assist them in accessing appropriate and deserved learning opportunities, attend school regularly, acquire basic necessities, and to achieve academic parity with non-homeless students. Services are delivered within a systems approach that includes direct and frequent contact with parents, families, and teachers of homeless school children. Capacity for increasing the level of necessary services to homeless children within the school system is achieved through professional development, individual teacher/staff contact, and policy advocacy within the school district and community.
