Program/Service Description:
The YMCA provides health, fitness and wellness programs for persons of all ages and abilities. The Westside YMCA is located in the village of Howard and has the following features: Two gymnasiums, running track, Lifestyle Center Area including a full line of cardio, strength and free weight equipment, personal fitness area, aerobics/aroup class room, pool with slide, whirlpool and sauna, and three racquetball courts (racquetball reservation 436-9678) The YMCA offers classes such as group fitness, dance, gymnastics, swimming lessons, martial arts, yoga, and pilates. The YMCA provides child care before and after school with activities and other programs being provided. Summer camps are also provided. Kamp Kermit is a fun half-day camp experience for children ages 4-5, located at Langlade School (next to the Broadview YMCA) and now at the East Side YMCA. There are many safe and healthy activities geared toward a preschooler's developmental level, including crafts, songs, stories, games, swimming and more! Kids Camp operates ten weekly camps throughout the summer for children ages 5-10. Social development, self-esteem, new skills, and character values are all part of the YMCA summer camp experience. Camp Wabansi is for ages 7-11 and gives campers a sense of freedom and adventure, while giving them memories to last a lifetime. Progressive and traditional in nature, Camp Wabansi is a great way to get your child ready for a resident camp experience at Camp-U-Nah-Li-Ya. Camp Wabansi also offers many specialty camps for ages 9-15 including fishing camp, mountain bike camp, end of summer fling for teens, and many more. Camp-U-Nah-Li-Ya offers kids, families and adults an excellent outdoor experience. From summer resident camp to outdoor environmental education...and outdoor adventure leadership to family program weekends...and cabin rentals to retreat gatherings, there are plenty of recreational and educational opportunities for all.
