Program/Service Description:
People suffering from chronic pulmonary diseases such as COPD, asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchiectasis, emphysema, chronic bronchitis and interstitial lung disease, pr and post lung resections or transplants may be eligible for this program. The program is located in the hospital's Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation gym and requires a referral from a physician. Potential participants also must undergo a series of tests that include pulmonary function studies, labs, chest x-ray, EKG, and oximetry. Tests performed within six months of the referral will not have to be repeated. Once a person is admitted to the program, he or she takes part in an exercise program twice a week and participates in an educational program once a week. The program runs for eight to twelve weeks.
