Program/Service Description:
There are several alcohol abuse/drug abuse services offered by Brown County Human Services. These include: Operating while Intoxicated, assessment with referrals to appropriate treatment or programs based on the assessment findings; outpatient counseling services are individual counseling and group counseling offered in the mornings and evenings. There is also a Co-occurring therapy group that meets 2 times per week for those consumers referred who have both AODA abuse/dependency issues and a mental illness. Case management increases the length of sobriety or freedom from chemical usage for persons with very chronic alcohol/drug problems. Case managers arrange and monitor needed services in the community for people experiencing alcohol/drug abuse problems. All Brown County residents who want and are in need of Residential AODA/Co-occurring treatment need to be screened by the AODA case managers who then make the appropriate referral based on the consumer need. Involuntary commitments are handled through the Access Unit or AODA Services Manager. Inpatient detoxification is provided on a locked, acute psychiatric unit of the Brown County Mental Health Center. Admissions are primarily protective custody, EM-1, involuntary or voluntary commitments.
