The Public Works Department is comprised of the Divisions of Engineering, Mechanical, Street, Water and Wastewater. Seventy-two full-time employees work within these divisions along with part-time and seasonal employees. Their work is also supplemented by contractors and consultants retained and supervised by the Department.
Water Bills:
Payment by check can be mailed to De Pere Water Department, 335 South Broadway, De Pere, Wisconsin 54115. Payments by check can also be made at Festival Foods at 1001 Main Ave. in West De Pere. Festival Foods can only accept payments from the 1st through the 20th of January, April, July, and October. Cash payments will only be accepted at the Water Department Office, 1st floor City Hall at 335 S. Broadway.
Past due bills and final bills can only be mailed or dropped off at the Water Department Office. There is a drop slot to the right of the old City Hall front entrance that can be used anytime. It is checked by staff on a daily basis.
The Engineering Division:
Each year the Engineering Department designs and constructs 1 to 2 miles of new streets with sewer and water mains serving 100 to 400 new lots; 5 to 6 miles of street resurfacing and reconstruction; 1.5 miles of sewer and water reconstruction; 5 miles of sewer televising
The Engineering Department is in charge of City Construction Projects such as sewer and water main installation, street extensions, sidewalk removal and repair, asphalt and concrete pavement. The Engineering Division does most of the design work for these projects and also hires outside firms to do some of the design.
General Garbage Guidelines:
Do not have anything personal on or near the curb on collection days - it may be picked up by mistake.
Waste jammed or frozen into garbage carts or bins that does not easily dislodge will be returned to the curb.
Any overloaded or improperly prepared bags, carts or tied bundles that burst or break open during handling will be left at the curbside.
If a cart is broken, please notify the City for maintenance at 339-4062.
It shall be the responsibility of each individual to keep all bags, bins, bundles and carts free from snow and rain water and to protect them from freezing.
Ashes set out for collection must be thoroughly cooled and completely soaked with water. Hot cinders and ashes or any smoldering embers shall not be placed in any collection.
Needles & Syringes - Needles and syringes should be stored in approved containers and taken to an approved Sharps Collection Station.
