Program/Service Description:
Exceptional Equestrians is a non-profit organization established to provide hippotherapy and therapeutic riding opportunities to families in northeastern Wisconsin. Hippotherapy involves the use of a horse as a treatment surface during a one-on-one session conducted by a licensed occupational, physical, or speech therapist trained in the technique. Therapeutic riding involves the use of a horse to promote the following skills: Balance and postural control, mobility/range of motion, eye-hand coordination, sensory integration, social/language and cognitive skills. Therapeutic riding is conducted in a group session by a certified riding instructor.
