Program/Service Description:
The Crisis Center of Family Services provides free, professional, short-term counseling for people of all ages in the Brown and Shawano County areas. One can reach the Crisis Center by calling the 24-hour crisis lines at 920-436-8888 in Brown County or 715-526-3240 in Shawano County. The Crisis Center provides counseling for any situation one or one's loved ones may be facing, including but not limited to: - Alcoholism or Alcohol Abuse - Anger Management - Anxiety - Couples Conflicts - Depression - Divorce - Domestic Violence - Drug Abuse - Grief and Loss - Housing - Major Life Changes - Mental Health - Parent/Child Conflicts - Relationship Breakups - Runaway Youth - Sexual Assault - Suicide and Suicide Prevention Staff of the Crisis Center have a bachelors or masters degree in a mental health discipline and are trained in crisis intervention. The goal is to intervene in crisis situations as skillfully and quickly as possible to stop ineffective behaviors and return people to their level of coping before the crisis. While the telephone counselors remain in the center to consult over the phone, they also offer mobile crisis counselors who will see people anywhere in Brown or Shawano County.
