Program/Service Description:
Provides support group, features speakers and literature. Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy may show up immediately, days, or months after an injury. The injury can be as minor as a sprain or fall. It may follow 5% of all injuries. It can be mild, moderate, or severe. It can be chronic and debilitating. This syndrome is often classed as a chronic pain disorder. Symptoms develop when a nerve sends alarm like messages to the brain which in turn starts a series of reactions. It is characterized by burning pain, swelling, heat, cold, color changes, weakness and rash. It can show up as early as three years of age.
