Program/Service Description:
Wisconsin requires a 6 month residency and Brown County a 30 day residency to file for divorce. Initial papers are available at most office supply stores. An original and 4 copies of the completed form can be brought to Family Court Office. Wisconsin is a no-fault state, meaning that grounds for divorce do not have to be proven. If the parties don't reach an agreement, the case will be tried by a Circuit Court judge. If agreement beforehand has been reached, it can be heard by the Family Court commissioner or a Circuit Court Judge.
