Program/Service Description:
This program is available to those individuals who have had a recent cardiac intervention. Qualifying candidates would have had one of the following: cardiac stint, recent MI, stable angina, open heart surgery, heart or heart and lung transplant, or valve repair. The program is located within the hospital's Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab gym located on the second floor of St. Vincent Hospital and acceptance into the program requires a referral from a physician. Once all pertinent information is obtained regarding recent intervention, labs, chest x-ray, report and physician report, the patient will be evaluated for the program. Once accepted into the program, sessions will meet three times a week for 12 weeks. During these sessions exercises will be performed that will help increase strength and endurance. Each Wednesday an educational session will be held at 10:00am.
