Program/Service Description:
Reading Connections is a non profit organization that provides an alternative method of reading/literacy instruction to individuals who have a difficult time learning to read. The program recognizes that there are biological differences in how individuals process information in their brains, which affect how they learn to read. The first step is to have an evaluation completed to determine reading abilities. The evaluation takes one-and-a-half hours to complete. Next, there is a one hour start up lesson to learn the basics. After that, eight, half hour lessons are scheduled per month. The instructors will work with anyone who struggles with reading. This includes individuals with learning disabilities or individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
