Program/Service Description:
The Weatherization Program repairs and/or replaces inefficient home heating/water heating and electrical appliances, and installs energy efficient lighting. Low income people apply for the heating assistance program (Wisconsin Home Energy and Assistance Program) in their respective counties. A list of eligible people is then sent by the State to the Weatherization Program. Clients may either call the program to see if their name has come through on the list,or the program will send letters from the list to those people who they think would be interested in having their homes weatherized. A Weatherization application is needed to get the process started. The client is then contacted by an energy auditor who determines what work needs to be done to the home. A crew will then go to the home and perform the necessary work. The program serves Brown, Florence, Forest, Marinette, Menominee, Oconto and Shawano counties, and the Menominee Indian Tribe.
