Program/Service Description:
Assists individuals with disabilities in obtaining and retaining employment with area businesses. There are three ways this can be accomplished: Supported Employment which assesses individuals to discover their preference, needs and abilities, locate employment that will match, provide on-the-job and community training/assistance, provide long term support for as long as it is needed by employee and employer; Job Placement which provides employment and support planning, assistance in areas requested by the client, such as interview skill training, provide on-the-job and community training if needed, ad provides support on and off the job for 90 days; School-to-Work Transition which assists students who are at least 19 years of age and in communities, obtain employment, assistance with referrals to DVR and county services, assistance with benefits, transportation, etc. and upon leaving school, their support will continue through Supported Employment. Community Employment staff will meet with business staff to provide pre screened applicants with skills that match requirements, assist with on-site training, provide quality follow-up and consultation services and supply information about available tax credits. Benefits to the business include: motivated, capable, reliable employees, low absenteeism, access to available tax credits, cost effective, and positive community image. The skills of individuals range from clerical worker, messenger, mail clerk, dining room host, day care teacher's aid, dishwasher, assembly worker ad others.
