Program/Service Description:
The Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program offers eligible low income seniors (at or below 185% of poverty level) the opportunity to purchase food such as fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs from certified farmers. You are given vouchers to use as payment. The vouchers can be used between June 1st and October 31st at participating farmers markets and roadside stands. A yellow sign is posted by authorized farmers who can accept the vouchers. Change will not be given if you buy less than the amount of the voucher. If the price of what you buy is higher than the amount of the voucher, you can make up the difference with cash or another voucher. An application must be filled out and in addition, you must be 60 years of age or older and meet income guidelines.
