Program/Service Description:
The In-Home Worker Referral program is a referral source through the Aging & Disability Resource Center for older adults and people with disabilities needing assistance with basic home health care, housekeeping, snow removal, yard work, or basic chore services. Police background checks are conducted on individuals wanting to be in-home workers. In addition, personal and employment references are required and an interview is conducted by ADRC personnel. The workers are not employed by the Aging & Disability Resource Center. Workers are independently hired by the older adult, person with a disability, or by the family. Fees are negotiated between the employer and the worker. It is recommended that further references be checked during the interview and hiring process by the employer. The in-home worker can assist with basic grooming needs, bathing, housekeeping, meal preparation, companionship, respite care, transportation and other non medical services. The chore worker can assist with yard work and other home repair issues. Medical transportation may be available to locations not served by Red Cross if the medical service is not available locally and if a driver is available. A mileage fee is charged for out of town medical transportation.
