Coordination Through Community Connection

The Brown County United Way and Start Smart/TheEarly Childhood Council are pleased to cosponsor a FREE e-mail group for all agencies, organizations and individuals providing human services in Brown County, maintained by United Way's 2-1-1 call center staff. To subscribe to this service, send a message to connect@browncountyunitedway.org and include the word "subscribe" in the subject line.

The Community Connections E-mail Group (or “Connect” for short) has two main purposes:

To offer a forum in which providers can easily communicate with one another by posting questions about local services, grants information and other funding opportunities, program openings and additional items of common interest.

To give providers an opportunity to collaborate and coordinate across agencies and organizations through increased communication.

Are you having trouble finding transportation or a translator for a client? Do you want to share your organization’s newsletter or information about a grant opportunity, parenting workshop or training seminar? Do you need supplies or have surplus items to donate?

Connect offers an opportunity to post this information and much more. Anytime you have a question or announcement, all you have to do is send an e-mail to connect@browncountyunitedway.org and this message will be routed to an entire community of your colleagues. Notices are sent out MWF each week.

Connect exists as a service to you. Please do not hesitate to share your ideas and comments. Also feel free to invite others to join; the more people who sign up and become active participants, the more effective and informative it will be.

Community Connections E-mail Group Information and User Tips:

If you would like to sign up for Connect, please send a message to connect@browncountyunitedway.org with the word “subscribe” in the subject line. After this request is made, you may begin sending information to post to connect@browncountyunitedway.org.

Please remember to include your name and contact information in the text of all messages you send to make it easy for colleagues to get in touch with you.

"United Way Neighbor" will appear in your e-mail inbox as the sender of all messages to and from the e-mail group. “Community Connections” will appear in the subject line. Connect notices are sent out on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays each week.  Postings sent by 4 p.m. the day prior to MWFs will be featured the following day.

Your e-mail address will not be shared with other organizations. The e-mail group list will not be visible when messages are posted to the larger audience.

You may unsubscribe at any time; send a request to connect@browncountyunitedway.org. Please include the word “unsubscribe” in the subject line.

If you receive duplicate postings/messages, let us know by sending an e-mail to connect@browncountyunitedway.org and we will try our best to fix the problem.

Please try to keep your postings/announcements as brief as possible and do not include graphics. Messages cannot be “held” into the future to be posted at a later date.  Send your announcement the day before you would like it to be posted.  It’s okay to send an announcement more than once if, for instance, you would like to publicize an event several weeks in advance and then send reminders.

Please do not send attachments and instead state the information you wish to share in the text of your e-mail message.   Many e-mail group members are not able to receive attachments at their workplaces. If you have an attachment that you need to publicize, such as a calendar or flyer, we could potentially post it on United Way's website, or you could suggest that people contact you to obtain a copy.

Job postings are featured so that subscribers can share these opportunities with clients. Job listings outside of Brown County will not be posted.

Online fundraising competitions:  Some for-profit companies are now offering “competitive fundraising” opportunities online.  While the Connect forum is commonly used to communicate information about local fundraising events, it is not reasonable to accommodate a separate posting for every agency that might participate in one or more online competitions.  For this reason, the Connect forum will not post any fundraising notices which request subscribers to vote online.

If you have questions about Connect, send a message to connect@browncountyunitedway.org.
